Ellen is our marketing, communications, & business development expert. She possesses more than 25 years of distinguished accomplishments in innovative marketing, strategic planning, management and revenue generation.
She brings a wide perspective from her experience in industry, healthcare, higher education and non-profits as well as a keen sense of brand strategy and implementation.
Prior to her consulting career, Ellen held several positions at the University of Maryland Medical System. In addition to leading strategic marketing and physician relations for the University of Maryland Medical Center and Midtown Campus, she moved to a system-wide business development role in Physician Marketing & Referral Services where she led a statewide team doing highly successful B2B marketing and business development.
From 1996 to 2012, she worked at Towson University in Maryland, leading major branding initiatives, PR, student recruiting, alumni and development communications, internal communications, digital strategy, arts marketing and the university’s NPR-member public radio station. Her work spanned brand discovery and management, consumer and business research, website design, social media and online tactics, integrated marketing and fundraising strategies, online and traditional advertising, sponsorship and even an institutional name change.
Earlier in her career, Ellen gained marketing, communications and MIS experience with a major cultural attraction in St. Louis and several major manufacturers. While working in corporate information technology at Emerson Corp. World Headquarters, she became proficient at incorporating technological tools to effect change, including evaluating new technology and decision-support software for C-suite executives.
She began her career with what is now Consumers Energy, where she held a succession of increasingly responsible management positions in human resources (recruiting, union relations), material management systems, management analysis and computer training. A summer internship at Whirlpool Corp. in sales research and analysis for the U.S. market gave her an intriguing glimpse into the juxtaposition of market research and strategic planning.
Ellen holds an MBA from Washington University in St. Louis, where she studied marketing and operations research and was honored with membership in Beta Gamma Sigma, the business honor society. Her BA in Business Administration with a minor in Economics is from Bowling Green State University. She is a lifelong advocate and volunteer in community building, education and the arts.
